While many students than ever are opting for technical or vocational-track postsecondary programs, the liberal arts remain the most popular destination for today’s college students — especially those entering college straight from high school. English and foreign-language skills are more critical than ever, while the humanities and social sciences remain the timeless bedrock of an enlightened education.
