University of Maastricht, the youngest university in the Netherlands, is renowned for its unique, innovative, problem-based learning system, which is characterized by a small-scale and approach students. The International Institute for Globalization and Regulation (IGIR) is an interdisciplinary institute at the University of Maastricht which to focus the regulatory process and the tools used to manage the dynamic interaction between economic globalization and fundamental social values .
The Faculty of Law of Maastricht University is offering:
- Two Ph.D. positions in the field of International Economic Law
- The Ph.D. projects will be carried out in the framework of the Institute for Globalisation and International Regulation
- One Ph.D. project concerns the tension between private-sector standards reflecting consumer concerns and developing country market access under WTO law. (Vacancy Notice AT2007.210)
- One Ph.D. project concerns the conflict between the liberalization of trade in services and the protection of core societal values under the General Agreement on Trade in Services. (Vacancy Notice AT2007.209)
Tasks
To engage in scientific research under surveillance, which will eventually lead to a doctoral thesis (85%) and lectures on subjects A to the Faculty of curriculum (15%).
Requirements
Lawyer qualified with an excellent knowledge of international economic law, an advanced degree in this field is a definite advantage and enthusiastic and determined with the researcher forefront of analytical and writing skills of English proficiency.
Appointment
The appointment will be full time, for a period of four years and should lead to a doctoral thesis. The appointment will take effect on 1 September 2008. The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the regulations of the University for academic staff, which ranged from € 1956 – in the first year, up to a maximum of € 2502, – in the last year.
