PhD Studentship Inorganic and Physical Chemistry

Hasselt University – This PhD research is in the framework of cooperation between the Institute of Materials Research and inter-university Microelectronics Center (IMEC). In the group of inorganic and physical chemistry and in a very interdisciplinary context (chemistry / physics materials / electronics), the study will be undertaken towards the development and introduction of new materials for metal oxide micro / nano-electronic devices, technologies of the future generations to meet the growing demand for miniaturisation. PhD project will focus on the study and optimization of wet-chemical synthesis of new routes high-K dielectric metal oxides and their characteristics, ultrathin layers in the light of finding a suitable dielectrics for the next generation of DRAM and logic devices. Research will be conducted in close cooperation with IMEC, as well as with other disciplines within the Institute of Materials Research. Profiles and a diploma Candidates are able to work independently and to conduct their research in the interdisciplinary communications. A strong interest in inorganic and physical chemistry, material sciences and thermodynamics, as well as in the synthesis and characterization of materials with applications in the field of electronics encouraged. Applicants must have adequate basic knowledge in chemistry and material science, so they must have a diploma: Master (apply) or chemicals (used) physics, bio engineer, Master of Science in industrial, civil engineer diploma or equivalent.
