ORMC is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in Critical Care research to join our team.

A Postdoctoral Research position is available at Orlando Health Medical Education Research and Training Center (OHMERTC). The Postdoctoral Researcher will investigate the pathophysiologic mechanisms of sepsis and ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The pathogenesis of the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) will be featured. In addition, the pathophysiology of ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) and strategies of protective mechanical ventilation will be studied. Studies involve both in vitro and in vivo assays, including chronic, clinically applicable porcine models, in vitro biology assays (ELISA and Western Blots) and immuno-histochemistry. The research laboratories are housed in a state-of-the-art facility with 8,000 sq. ft. of wet laboratory and office space and 1,400 sq. ft. for translational laboratory and vivarium.

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD or an equivalent degree and a strong background in pulmonary physiology or other physiologic disciplines. A candidate with a strong background in inflammation or immunology would be considered. The Postdoctoral Researcher will also be expected to contribute to experimental design, data analysis and interpretation of results. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with others will also be essential. Salary will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
