Postdoctoral Fellow – Addressing Fugitive Gas Emissions Associated Knowledge Gaps in Cluster Scale Wastewater Systems
CSIRO Land and Water

-Looking for a development opportunity with a targeted career advancement plan?
-Do you want to undertake meaningful environmental research?
-A CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship is your path to a successful career in science

The position:

CSIRO Land and Water (CLW) is offering an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to address Green House Gas (GHG) associated knowledge gaps in the area of cluster scale wastewater technologies. This will enable the widespread application of decentralised systems. The contribution of the Postdoctoral Fellow will be:

-to investigate the role of fugitive gas emissions in the overall GHG footprint of these systems; and
-examine the reliability/ robustness of treatment systems through modelling (Biowin) and validation.

The successful candidate will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team on decentralised wastewater technologies covered under two streams in CSIROs Water for a Healthy Country Flagship (WfHC). Advanced Technologies and Distributed Systems and will be required to provide a critical scientific contribution to address knowledge gaps that would increase the uptake of these systems.

We are seeking applicants with a PhD in civil/environmental/chemical engineering/ sciences, with demonstrated research experience in cluster scale / centralised urban wastewater treatment systems. You must have knowledge and skills to develop concepts and methods to assess GHG footprints of cluster scale technologies. Your ability to plan/manage the instrumentation for the monitoring and validation of various cluster scale alternative technologies, will be highly regarded.

The role will involve:

-contributing to the Urban Water Systems Engineering Program;
-contributing to the evaluation of environmental risks and benefits of distributed urban water systems;
-contributing to the development of appropriate technical knowhow to enable greater mainstream uptake of decentralised technologies;
-publishing findings through peer journal publications and industry reports;
