PhD Studentship in Yeast Membrane Biology

A PhD student position is available immediately at the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), Fachbereich Biologie, in the group of Prof. Dr. Adam Bertl (Yeast Membrane Biology)
Duties
Molecular and biophysical investigations of ion transport processes in the baker’s yeast and their role in salt stress, salt tolerance and osmoregulation. Participate in teaching first semester cell biology lab.
Qualifications
Diploma or Masters degree. Knowledge and hands-on experience in yeast molecular biology. Experience and/or strong interest in biophysical methods (patch clamping; luminometric calcium measurements; confocal microscopy) would be an advantage.
The position is aimed towards qualification of the candidate with the opportunity to prepare for a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) and will be offered for an initial period of 3 years.
