{"id":896,"date":"2009-07-22T05:05:11","date_gmt":"2009-07-22T05:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.infobeasiswa.net\/?p=896"},"modified":"2009-07-22T05:05:11","modified_gmt":"2009-07-22T05:05:11","slug":"postdoc-fellow-in-computational-biologis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.infobeasiswa.net\/archives\/2009\/07\/22\/postdoc-fellow-in-computational-biologis\/","title":{"rendered":"Postdoc Fellow in Computational Biologis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Computational Biologist Postdoc Fellow<\/p>\n<p><em>Be Part of Something Great!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Life Sciences Division has an opportunity for a Computational Biologist Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in projects to characterize the time and dose dependencies of gene-expression response profiles after exposures of mammalian cells and tissues to low-dose ionizing radiation, to identify response pathways, and to identify co-regulatory determinants of susceptibility to genomic damage in irradiated cells.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As a Postdoc, you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Participate in projects to characterize the time and dose dependencies of gene-expression response profiles after exposures of mammalian cells and tissues to low-dose ionizing radiation, to identify response pathways, and to identify co-regulatory determinants of susceptibility to genomic damage in irradiated cells.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct genomic-scale experiments of gene expression profiles in irradiated cells using gene-transcript microarrays with cells from human 2D or 3D cultures, and mouse tissues.<\/li>\n<li>Perform molecular validation of mRNA response patterns in irradiated cells.<\/li>\n<li>Apply and interpret biostatistical tools to identify time- and dose-dependent clusters and characterize their variability among tissue and cell types.<\/li>\n<li>Apply and interpret bioinformatics analyses of functions and pathways associated with radiation-responsive genes.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook of all experiments performed<\/li>\n<li>Provide training and guidance to undergraduate and graduate students.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare results for publication in scientific journals and presentations at seminars and present research data at group meetings, seminars and conferences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Success Factors<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Recent Ph.D. degree in computational biology, biophysics, or related field.<\/li>\n<li>At least two years of experience in research involving genomic structure, computational genomic analyses, and bioinformatics tools are required.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in analyzing data from genome-scaling expression technologies (gene-transcript and\/or proteomic cellular analyses methods) is required.<\/li>\n<li>Training and understanding of biostatistics and genomic biology is required.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work with guidance of principal investigator and collaborators.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to conduct experiments independently, maintain appropriate records and manage data.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to organize research results for publication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Traits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in various techniques used in molecular biology, immunostaining, RNA and DNA analysis, in mammalian cells.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in culture of human cells.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a two-year computational postoctoral appointment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong>: http:\/\/cjo.lbl.gov\/LBNLCareers\/details.asp?jid=23116&amp;p=1<\/p>\n<p>Berkeley Lab is an affirmative action\/equal opportunity employer committed to the development of a diverse workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Employer:  Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory<br \/>\nLocation: Berkeley, CA, United States<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Life Sciences Division has an opportunity for a Computational Biologist Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in projects to characterize the time and dose dependencies of gene-expression response profiles<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[72,7],"tags":[624,625],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.7.1 -
